Microsoft Teams for Students with Visual Impairments

Many school districts throughout the province are implementing Microsoft Teams for distance learning. Teams is quite accessible to blind and visually impaired students, but information on how to set up Teams for students can sometimes be hard to find. We've created some resources to help TSVIs in getting their students up and running with Teams.

Below are several reference documents on using Teams on various platforms for students who use access technologies. The PRCVI outreach team will be adding more resources as we work with teachers and students using Teams.

Vispero, the company who makes JAWS, has also put out several online resources about using JAWS and Teams.

About the author

Jen Jesso

I have worked in various roles in the field of visual impairment since 2007. In addition to working as a teacher of students with visual impairments, I recently completed coursework to become an orientation and mobility specialist. I have been fortunate to work with the fantastic team at PRCVI since 2014.

I enjoy many aspects of my role at PRCVI, but highlights include working with teachers of students with visual impairments and their students on outreach visits and working on PRCVI initiatives and projects.

Outside of work, my interests include reading, computer programming, swimming, and spending time with friends and family.
